Exceline was instrumental in developing the first comprehensive
performance standard, the VR+, which addresses the development of vandal
resistant lighting fixtures. Exceline engineers tested competitive vandal
resistant luminaires under a variety of destructive conditions and
analyzed how and when these fixtures failed. A new uniform standard was
developed that addresses the areas of impact and prying force as well as
environmental and electrical ratings. The result is the ProTector series,
the first truly vandal resistant family of lighting fixtures. Withstands 100 Joules of Impact Without Affecting Performance The ProTector is designed to take up to 100 joules of impact on the front and side of the fixture typical of a baseball bat or pipe without affecting performance. This is accomplished through polycarbonate construction, the supplemental impact system and a trim ring impact collar. An average person using a standard baseball bat is equivalent to about 90 joules. |
